I rarely give a negative review as I know the impact it can have on a business. However I feel as though I am giving a fair and honest review of the experience that I had and hopefully it helps others to give more consideration before using this company. We rented a car from ROIG Majorca for 4 days. We used our car to drive from the airport and back without any incidents, scratches or scuffs at all. However on return of the vehicle, a very small scuff was noted on the door. Despite being reassured initially that signs of wear and tear were inevitable, and would not be chargeable damage, we were charged €133 euros as a very small scratch was noticed on one of the doors. Despite not having scratched the door ourselves and despite there being other aspects of wear and tear on the vehicle as it was presented in this way, we were made to pay for a pre-existing scratch. The mechanic from ROIG even admitted that it was unfair to charge us for this, he pulled a face to his colleague, whilst we were standing in front of them, as if to say 'are you really charging them for this?' Of all my experiences using rental vehicles, this is the worst experience I have had. Very bad business and customer service. It seems the training of ROIG employers is such that they are trained at scrutinising vehicles only after it has been returned and not before. The company's excuse is that we should have taken out €100 of insurance with them to cover for these damages. In my opinion, they were finding any excuse to charge customers on this day, and there was no alternative for us. No matter what, I got the impression that they would have found anything to charge us a penalty. In all honesty, I said to my wife prior to returning the vehicle that I was very impressed with how smooth everything had been with the rental company up until that moment, including the shuttle service from the airport, It's just a shame that there doesn't appear to be any common sense or just decency with this company... If anyone chooses to use this company, which I strongly advise against, make sure you take decent SLR standard photos (ring flash also advised if you're collecting in the evening like we did) of every inch of the car and videos. Our mobile phone shots were not strong enough to show up these small scuffs beforehand. I would also advise taking a picture of the petrol meter beforehand as ours didn't show a full tank level even when it was filled up to the max (another story for another day) and we're still waiting to find out if we will be charged for this. Once again I really am not one for negative reviews and whining, I just want everyone to have a fair opinion beforehand.
